Canvas Craft

This has been sitting around to be completed for quite awhile.. and once I did it, it took maybe 1 hour (10 minutes of me actually working on it). I saw this on pinterest, and thought it could be easy artwork for the house. And it was.

All you need:
- Canvas (whatever size you want)
- Quote (whatever your clever head decides)
- Spray paint
- Stickers (I used foam letters)

I covered the whole thing with paint so no white from canvas was visible (only one layer) and that did the trick. The V's a little shaky, so make sure to press your stickers on hard. If not, it'll add character like mine. Lovin it.

HBD SJ!

My dear sister (not really, but she is), turned 25 last weekend! We celebrated in ways any 21 25 year old would. Tiaras, wands, balloons, cupcakes, dancing, etc. I love her so much and so thankful that we could celebrate her and and still have energy to stay up past 12:00am. HBD SJ!

date day!

With Rands working 50-60 hours a week the last couple weeks, he asked me out on a date day so we could actually spend time together. The weather was so perfect, I don't remember it being this nice last year. We biked to our fave orlando spot (park ave), got some delish coffee & brunch items from croissant gourmet, and had a picnic/people watched for a few hours. It was so nice, and I'm learning to take advantage of these laid back days together more! We concluded the day with dinner & margs at the prickly pear, and a movie (One Day- rent it if you want to be depressed for 10 days).  Date days are becoming my favorite because they last longer than date nights. Oh and we biked past a pack (herd?) of peacocks, naturally. So here's some shots from the gorgeous day.

Crockpot: Vegetable & Chickpea Curry

I finally tested out my new crockpot my husband gifted me for Christmas that I had been asking for. I never thought I'd be into them, but for a small fam of 2 that are on the go a lot, it really is perfect (and good for the budget too, it makes good left overs!). I've been trying to find some healthy recipes that weren't soup, and finally stumbled upon this one. It was really delish. I do however have a larger one than the recipe calls for which didn't seem to matter, made it sans the serrano chile (didn't have one), and I also made brown rice on the side which I combined together after everything was cooked. It made for a more filling dinner and a just all around nice touch. Try it here.

Ruche

I stumbled upon this store site the other day, through a little thing called pinterest. They have super cute clothes that are very decently priced. They seem to reflect anthropologie/modcloth styles, at a little more affordable prices. Their goal is to buy vintage inspired pieces with a little modern flair. Pretty much what the goal of my etsy is! Twinzieeeees. Check 'em.

Butternut Squash Lasagna

I am trying to make dishes that have left over potentials, since it's just the two of us. I like to make some regulars that have a twist, and this butternut squash lasagna was just that this week! It says to use two pans, but I just stuck it all in a 9x13 incher, and was good to go. It was delish and lasted us a few days. Highly recommend (this ones for you Sarah Jane).

White Bean (turkey) Chili

I made this for dinner & it is a fave around here. If you're looking for an alternative chili recipe during these frigid Florida days, give this one a shot. It is actually called White Bean Turkey Chili, but I use rotisserie chicken instead. I like the taste better and it's easier for me. Find it here
Prepare all the herbs/veges first.

Your eyes will do this too after the onions.

Cook.

Done. Enjoy!

new years cleanse

Go here- good luck!

new years 2012!

                                                                    Happy 2012!

                                                                       12:00am

We do take regular people pictures, sometimes.
What a year. I can't believe I stuck with this blog for a year- maybe it's true love? I definitely slacked towards the end looking back, but it was really enjoyable to read over and reminisce. My first entry was this, and I think it's funny how much healthier we were then. But if you are healthy like we used to be, and want a cleanse, that is a really great one. Maybe we'll try it again?
Anyways, we had a roller coaster year, but a year of blessings as well. Ending with Randy landing a job was a pretty solid finish, we are grateful.

My/our resolutions are pretty much the same every year, but I added a few for the sake of looking back next year and seeing if we made more progress than last year (don't overthink it).
-Read through the bible (Iphones have great plans if you need help)
-Go to the dentist (no excuses since we have insurance now)
-Finish my AA (before my little brother at least)
-Do more with one of my loves
-Have more travel adventures with my love
-Eating healthier & running (boring)
-MOVE
Those are just a few. If any of those are yours too, we can keep each other accountable. Or blow them together, either one!

Finally, here's a few shots of NewYearsEve 2012 for the Ketts. It was an extra special one though, because my dearest friend Christie got engaged to a pretty rad fellow, who goes by the name Michael. I am so excited and happy for them and I know their wedding is going to be a major highlight for 2012! Love you guys! (we have a habit of getting more pictures together than with our fiances when we get engaged, just lyfe).
